I am the Obong Ikpaisong of Ikot Ide. Sir, as Obong Ikpaisong, can you tell us what Ikpaisong really is? Ikpaisong is the gods of the Land that protect and save the people from danger or evil or it is a guiding spirit that guide the people of the land. Sir, is Ikpaisong of one village is the same with another village? As people faces are different so is the Ikpaisong it differs from one place to another. That is why the different villages have different laws. Sir, Can a Priest of Ikpaisong of one village serve the Ikpaisong of another village? No, a Priest have no right to leave his shrine to serve another shrine, only you have authority over the shrine till death and another Priest will be appointed. But you can consult a Priest of another village for some information. When is the day of Ikpaisong worship? It differs from one place to another, Edet is the day of Ikpaisong but some places take Edetobo or Ekpa market days in Annang. What are the things that Ikpaisong don’t wants? You shall not steal in the farm. You must not do wickedness in the land. You must not have sex in the afternoon or in the bush or with someone’s wife. You must not bring thieves into the land. Yes, that is my work, if anyone commit sin against the gods of the land, the moment they bring what the deity demand I would take the offering go to the shrine and offer it to the gods and release the people and forgive them. Sir, do you believe in God? Yes, I believe God and Ikpaisong which one is the most powerful? God is the creator of the heavens and the earth, God is greater than Ikpaisong. Sir why do you prefer to serve Ikpaisong rather than God the Creator? My father Akam Enene Umo Adiaekpo was the priest of Ikpaisong and the place was vacant after his death the whole village elected me into the office because is my father’s family inheritance. You have no right or authority to forgive sine it is only God and His Priest have right to forgive people of sins that the thief call Ikpaisong has taken over the place of God in the land. The people that come for forgiveness and prayers are church people what should I do when they come? Tell them to go and meet their pastors and confess their sins and there would be free. The man of sin is revealed in Ikpaisong (a complete natural man without God) And Ikpaisong have become man and began to eat and drink. While the research was on a young man who was born again before but now and he is saying, I am the Ikpaisong of the land, when I heard the word, I was surprised, to hear that truly Ikpaisong have become man dwell among and we saw the wickedness and begin to boast about that he is the Ikpaisong of the land.
