You Are Older Than the Earth: A Mystery Revealed
By Da Effiong Daniel

Modern science confirms that your body contains atoms far older than the Earth, the Sun, or even our solar system. Some of the hydrogen atoms found in your body—present in every drop of water and every strand of DNA—originated during what scientists call the "Big Bang," dated over 13 billion years ago.[1] These atoms were formed in the very dawn of time, long before galaxies emerged. Over eons, they cycled through stars, supernovae, and cosmic dust—until they became part of you.
In a very real sense, your body carries the memory of creation.
You are not merely matter—you are a living testimony of divine intention.
Yet, this is not a mystery to God. Long before science arrived at such conclusions, the Scriptures declared that man existed in the foreknowledge of God:
> “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world…”
— Ephesians 1:3–4 (KJV)
The Divine Intention Before the World Began
God had already chosen man in Christ, not as an afterthought of cosmic evolution, but as the predestined vessel of His glory. Man was not the result of randomness, but the image of the invisible God:
> “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us...”
— John 1:14
> “This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies...”
— 1 John 5:6
This mystery is echoed in the eternal plan of redemption, hidden from ages but now revealed:
> “To make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery… to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God…”
— Ephesians 3:9–10
Refuting the Big Bang Theory: Creation is of God
The Big Bang theory, while attempting to explain the universe’s beginning through physical processes, fails to address the origin of order, life, morality, and purpose. The Scriptures do not support an explosion but a spoken word of order:
> “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1
> “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”
— Psalm 33:6
> “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God…”
— Hebrews 11:3
The so-called “cosmic evolution” excludes divine purpose and wrongly elevates matter above spirit. But man, being spirit and dust, is higher than stars and atoms—he is the dwelling place of God.
Man is Higher Than the Angels
Even the angelic rulers and principalities have long inquired into this mystery. Psalm 8 expresses their wonder:
> “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels [Elohim], and hast crowned him with glory and honour.”
— Psalm 8:4–5
Hebrews confirms this was fulfilled in Christ:
> “You have put all things in subjection under his feet…”
— Hebrews 2:8
Thus, man is not to bow to angels nor worship them:
> “Let no man beguile you… intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up… worshipping of angels…”
— Colossians 2:18
> “I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not… Worship God.”
— Revelation 22:8–9
Conclusion: You Are a Mystery Made Flesh
The same atoms that scientists trace back to the universe’s origins are not proof of accident, but evidence of divine craftsmanship. You are made of both dust and breath (Genesis 2:7), both science and spirit, both time and eternity.
You are the living record of God's eternal mystery—Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).
